Official International Indigenous Nation to Nation Treaty of Commerce and Trade

February 12, 2022

After months of deliberation and dealing with the variants of Covid, on February 12, 2022, in Pawtucket, Rhode Island, the member nations of the Federation of Aboriginal Nations of the Americas (FANA), its Allies, and the Grand Chief, Allan Baldwin - White Buffalo Eagle of the Kinakwii Sovereign Confederacy, signed the “Official International Indigenous Nation to Nation Treaty of Commerce and Trade” (ITCT).

The ITCT folded in two other signed FANA treaties: the “Indigenous Treaty of Peace and Friendship" (ITPF) and the “Indigenous Treaty of Health and Wellness” (renamed the Treaty of Montaup).

Only those Chiefs of the member nations of FANA who lived in Rhode Island were present.  All other member nations of FANA and its allies were attending virtually, along with family and friends. This was due to concerns of Covid and avoiding large gatherings of people.

On May 6, 2022, FANA filed a Constructive and Public Notice regarding the signing of the International Indigenous Treaties of Commerce and Trade, and Health and wellness with the State of Rhode Island.

You will notice that within the Constructive and Public Notice is the announcement of the ceremonial appointment of H. E. Judge Lord Robert Orville Thomas as the First Taupau and Lord Chief Justice for the Paramount Court of the FANA Inter-Tribal Court System to The International Criminal Court (ICC) for the Federation of Aboriginal Nations of the Americas.

The story behind this historical signing of the ITCT and its significance will be covered in an article written by the Principal Chief of the SandHill following this article.
