FANA grants Observer Status to the State of African Diaspora

October 21, 2025

Throughout the Federation of Aboriginal Nations of the Americas' (FANA) 10 years of activity, its members have seen it grow from a small domestic indigenous group of first-contact tribes to a global phenomenon.

FANA has signed treaties and agreements with Indigenous Tribes throughout the Americas, Polynesia, Europe, and Africa. The Federation has developed strong friendships with the leaders of other countries, enabling ancient trade routes and communication to be re-established in modern times.

FANA has enabled countries in Africa to be linked to the Americas and Polynesia through treaties and agreements. This action has introduced the possibility of enhancing the economic development of Indigenous peoples globally.

Due to the strong partnership and friendship that have developed between FANA and the leadership of the State of African Diaspora (SOAD), I have the honor of announcing that FANA has granted SOAD Observer Status.

This gesture by FANA illustrates the deepening relationship and friendship between a North American Indigenous Federation and an African Nation.  This status allows SOAD's leadership to observe and interact with FANA's Chiefs during the meetings. However, SOAD's representatives cannot vote.

SOAD has published an article addressing the granting of Observer Status. In the announcement, it is written: "His Excellency, the Prime Minister, Dr. Louis-Georges Tin, expressed his gratitude for the honor, noting that it reaffirms the important cultural alliance between the peoples of the Africa Diaspora, Africa and the Americas and heralds a new chapter of collective empowerment and cooperation.

The granting of Observer Status is the culmination of years of friendship, mutual respect, and cooperative efforts between the State of the African Diaspora and the Federation of Aboriginal Nations of the Americas.  As part of this expanded partnership, both Nations are dedicated to advancing sustainable development, fostering economic cooperation, and advocating for human rights and well-being of indigenous and marginalized communities around the world.  The Observer Status further enhances the State of the African Diaspora's role on the global stage, reinforcing its influence in fostering global unity, equity, and peace."

FANA's Minister of Aboriginal Nations of the Americas, Principal Chief, Dr Ronald Yonaguska Holloway, has also commented on this historical event

"This is one of the most momentous events in written history. What is seen here is the reconnection/ integration of two continents that should have happened centuries ago.

However, with the Western European colonization making way for the enslavement of the African continent, along with the Europeans' attempts for the complete eradication of the Indigenous people in North America, these events above hindered the reconnection of the two continents.

Now we see the reversal of the things that kept us apart.

I am proud to play a part in the lifting up of these two great peoples, and I might add, without the colonizers, and their modern-day successors."
