FANA welcomes the Lenca Nation of Central America as a member to Federation

February 25, 2026

The Federation of Aboriginal Nations of the Americas (FANA) seemed to be taking a winter hiatus from the public eye.  Everything regarding FANA was quiet, with only occasional articles addressing what the Federation was doing at the time.

However, that is far from FANA’s reality, as more and more Indigenous Nations/Tribes have been reaching out to FANA, either to sign various treaties to become allies or to become members of the Federation.

Over the past few years, FANA’s Minister of International Affairs, Principal Chief Dr. Ronald Yonaguska Holloway, and FANA’s Director, Chief Raymond Two Hawks Watson Esq., have been working diligently to go through the sundry requests pertaining to FANA.

Before an Indigenous Nation/Tribe can reach Ally status and/or become a member of the Federation, a thorough due diligence search is performed on the petitioning Nation/Tribe.

Once it is determined that the applying Nation/Tribe has presented the essential documentation, that party would either become an Ally or a member of the Federation.

When seeking either position with the Federation, becoming an Ally or member can take months or a few years to come to fruition. First, a relationship must develop between FANA and the Nation/Tribe seeking affiliation with the Federation, either through Alliances or by becoming a member. Then, FANA reviews the Nation/Tribe’s documentation. If there is a problem with any of the submitted documents, the Federation will assist in any manner necessary to help them redo the paperwork correctly. Because the paperwork includes a constitution, bloodlines, etc., it can take time for the applying Nation/Tribe to have everything in order.

Such was the case with the Lenca. It took a few years to develop a relationship and to put together the necessary paperwork and documentation.  The Lenca first applied for Observer Status and, in August 2025, were granted observer Nation status, permitting them to attend FANA’s Council meetings to learn how FANA operates.

The Lenca Nation has now fulfilled the six-month requirements and submitted the necessary documentation to seek membership.

It is with great pleasure that I announce that the Lenca Nation of Honduras and El Salvador, having completed the six-month requirement, has been granted member Nation status in the Federation.

Lenca Principal Chief Tanki Tishik Lepa Musa has signed many of the treaties that the Federation had entered into with Allies and other Nation/Tribe members.

As I mentioned in my Daily Kos article dated October 21, 2025, the Lenca Nation originated in South America.  According to historical accounts, the Lenca were among the first indigenous peoples to migrate and settle in what is now called Central America. They had contact and interaction with the Mayan and Aztec nations. They were and still are farmers. When not farming, the people are hunters and catch fish to supplement their diets. Please refer to the aforementioned article for more details about the Lenca Nation.
