FANA Appoints Mr. Eric Majette Jr., Ambassador At Large to Africa and Ambassador to African Union's Sixth Region

The Federation of Aboriginal Nations of the Americas announces the appointment of Mr. Eric Majette, Jr, as the Ambassador at Large to Africa and Ambassador to the African Union’s Sixth Region.


Ambassador Majette is a noted cultural historian, filmmaker, and genealogist, among other attributes.  He is also a member of the Sandhill Band of Lenape and Cherokee Indians Nation.  He is the “first blood-born” Sandhill Indigenous and a member of FANA, to become an International Ambassador.  This appointment is a historic moment for his family’s lineage and for indigenous people throughout the Americas.


When reading about his accomplishments, one discovers that Dick Gregory bestowed upon him the title “The Keeper of the Jewels.”  Ambassador Majette earned that esteemed title due to his deep devotion to preserving African and Indigenous American history.  His appointment is a reflection of his lifetime of dedication to “legacy, culture, and the upliftment of Indigenous and African peoples worldwide.”


His bio reflects that he is a visionary with a record of excellence, with 30 years in the entertainment industry, 19 of them in film and television.


He is also a noted author of three published books and an award-winning filmmaker of the short documentary “The Keeper of the Jewels,” which was presented to him by the Docs Without Borders International Film Festival.


I have written this introduction to FANA’s appointment of Ambassador Eric Majette, Jr., as Ambassador at Large to Africa, and as Ambassador to the African Union’s Sixth Region.

FANA ANNOUNCES THE OFFICIAL APPOINTMENT OF ERIC MAJETTE, JR. AS AMBASSADOR TO AFRICA AT LARGE AND AMBASSADOR TO THE AFRICAN UNION’S SIXTH REGION (STATE OF THE AFRICAN DIASPORA) FOR CULTURE, HERITAGE, AND ENTERTAINMENT

Providence, Rhode Island, USA — November 15, 2025— The Federation of Aboriginal Nations of the Americas (FANA), in partnership with the Office of the Indigenous Council, hereby issues this formal communiqué announcing the appointment of the Hon. Eric Majette, Jr., a distinguished cultural historian, genealogist, filmmaker, and international cultural strategist, to the dual diplomatic posts of:

  • Ambassador to Africa at Large

  • Ambassador to the African Union’s Sixth Region (State of the African Diaspora) for Culture, Heritage and Entertainment

This appointment has been conferred in recognition of his exemplary service, longstanding leadership, and extraordinary contributions to the preservation, advancement, and unification of Indigenous American and African-descended peoples globally.


I.  BACKGROUND ON THE APPOINTMENT


The Federation of Aboriginal Nations of the Americas, operating under its mandate to advance Indigenous sovereignty, cultural diplomacy, and international cooperation, appoints Ambassadors who demonstrate exceptional merit, integrity, ancestral knowledge, and global service.


Following a unanimous recommendation from the Indigenous Council and cultural affairs committees, the Hon. Eric Majette, Jr. has been recognized as a uniquely qualified representative capable of strengthening ties between Indigenous American nations, African nations, and the global African Diaspora.


His appointment marks a historic milestone:


The Hon. Eric Majette, Jr., becomes the first documented blood-born Sandhill Indigenous and FANA seat holder appointed to an international ambassadorship.


He represents the Sandhill Band of the Lenape and Cherokee Nation (Delaware Indians) and is the first in his family lineage to serve as a Congressman within FANA’s Indigenous Council (Nimmuog).


II. PROFESSIONAL, CULTURAL, AND DIPLOMATIC QUALIFICATIONS


Ambassador Majette has demonstrated outstanding accomplishments across multiple domains essential to international cultural diplomacy:


1.   Cultural & Historical Leadership

  • Bestowed the title “The Keeper of The Jewels” by civil rights icon Dick Gregory for his exceptional commitment to preserving African and Indigenous American history

  • Founder and steward of one of the world’s largest and most comprehensive traveling Black history collections, featuring rare archival materials, cultural artifacts, and sacred historical items.

  • A member of the National Genealogical Society and a seasoned genealogist with 35 years of historical research, successfully reuniting his:The Majette family line
    The Humphrey family line
    Sixteen major branches of the Bowles lineage

III. Scope of Ambassadorial Duties

As Ambassador to Africa and Ambassador to the AU 6th Region for Culture, Heritage and Entertainment, Hon. Majette will be responsible for:


Cultural Diplomacy

Strengthening relations between Indigenous American nations and the African continent through cultural exchange, arts, and historic preservation.


Diaspora Engagement

Advancing unity, cooperation, and shared development among Indigenous and African- descended populations worldwide, including the State of the African Diaspora.


Entertainment & Creative Industry Relations

Facilitating collaborations between filmmakers, artists, educators, and cultural institutions across the Americas, the Caribbean, and Africa.

Education & Heritage Preservation

Promoting initiatives that safeguard Indigenous and African heritage, expand historical literacy, and support youth leadership.


Strategic International Partnerships

Representing FANA in discussions with ministries, cultural councils, NGOs, and pan- African institutions.
