PRESS RELEASE -

FANA ESTABLISHES INTERNATIONAL HUMAN RIGHTS TRIBUNAL TO SERVE INDIGENOUS PEOPLES, AFRO-DESCENDANTS, AND AFRICAN KINGDOMS

The Federation of Aboriginal Nations of the Americas (FANA) has officially announced the establishment of a Human Rights Tribunal dedicated to securing justice for Indigenous and Aboriginal peoples whose rights continue to be violated. With the collaborative support of the State of the African Diaspora (SOAD), the Tribunal will serve as a sovereign forum to address historical and ongoing injustices, uphold customary law, and ensure that restitution, reparations, and recognition are pursued with the full force of international legitimacy.

The Tribunal, grounded in the newly decreed Law of Continuity announced by FANA on 11th August, 2025, will serve as a culturally rooted and internationally recognized platform to address issues including:

¾ The right to live

¾ The right to self-govern

¾ The right to freedom

The Tribunal will focus on seeking to restore parity and defend equality in 3 key areas:

¾ Human Rights & Indigenous Rights

¾ Environmental laws

¾ Social cooperate responsibility

All of which are already part of UN Agenda 2032 and the SDGs.

SOAD Vice Prime Minister, Keturah Amoako highlighted its importance for Indigenous Peoples, African kingdoms and African diaspora communities:

“Through our continued work on restitution and reparations, many African kingdoms have suffered cultural and territorial losses for centuries, not to mention reparatory justice for all colonized nations and communities remains long overdue. This Tribunal will help us to provide them with a powerful and legitimate venue to claim restitution, repatriation, reparations and recognition under the Law of Continuity. Therefore, this Tribunal is not just another legal institution. It is a court by and for our peoples — one that understands our history, honors our traditions, and upholds our sovereignty”.

The Tribunal will hear cases from across the Americas, Africa, the Pacific Islands, and other regions where Indigenous and African-descendant communities have faced dispossession, marginalization, and human rights violations.

With this initiative, FANA is creating a permanent mechanism to ensure that justice is served, appropriate remedies are provided, and the survival, dignity, and rights of affected communities are upheld globally.

PRESS RELEASE

FANA ANNOUNCES HISTORIC DECREE OF THE LAW OF CONTINUITY

The Federation of Aboriginal Nations of the Americas (FANA) have announced a groundbreaking Decree to uphold Indigenous and aboriginal sovereignty.

On 11 August 2025, FANA formally decreed the Law of Continuity—codifying a well-established principle of customary law that the traditions and governance systems of a people retain legal force despite external usurpation. This move positions customary law as a living, evolving foundation for justice and international recognition.

Aligned with the principles of the SOAD and its ongoing work with diaspora communities and African kingdoms, SOAD seeks to adopt the Law of Continuity by parliamentary promulgation, creating a united legal framework to defend sovereign rights and reclaim cultural heritage. Together, FANA and SOAD are building the legal, diplomatic, and institutional mechanisms to ensure that the voices of Indigenous, Aboriginal nations and African kingdoms and diaspora communities are heard, their human rights respected, and justice delivered.

SOAD Vice Prime Minister, H.E. Keturah Amoako said:

“The Law of Continuity affirms that our laws are alive and our sovereignty intact. It is about recognition, respect, and restoration. With this Law and its subsequent adoption by SOAD, we strengthen our legal and moral case for restitution, reparations, and the return of cultural heritage, ancestral remains, and Kingdom sovereign lands — ensuring justice is delivered with appropriate remedy for our peoples”.

The Decree laid the groundwork for the establishment of the FANA Human Rights Tribunal to address systemic injustices against Indigenous, Aboriginal, African and African diaspora communities worldwide.
