FANA Swears in the Representatives to its Nimmuog (Congress)

June 29, 2025

The Federation of Aboriginal Nations of the Americas held its quarterly meeting on June 29, 2025.  The meeting was well-attended, with many FANA Chiefs and/or their representatives present, as well as FANA Ambassadors and Federation Members.

The meeting was called to order, and FANA Director Principal Chief Raymond Two Hawks Watson opened the meeting by asking attendees to introduce themselves and state their title, or if they did not have a title, to state their Tribal affiliation.

In attendance were FANA’s Member Chiefs, as well as Chief Justice Lord Thomas; FANA’s Judge, Lady Davenport; and FANA’s Ambassador to India, Dr. Seevan, along with other dignitaries, ambassadors, and members of the FANA Member Tribes.

Once attendance was completed, the meeting moved to the main agenda item, which was to elect representatives from the various member tribes to serve as their representatives to FANA’s Nimmuog (Congress).

Director Principal Chief Watson proceeded to give an overview of the Federation’s Constitution and its Mission and Vision.

FANA’s mission is “…To provide leadership and serve as the collective voice for the development of the mass unification of the Aboriginal Tribes and the Nations of the Americas...”

FANA’s Vision is “…To be the catalyst and foundational confederation for the progression of global respect and support for Aboriginal Tribes and Nations...”

He proceeded to go over FANA’s Preamble to its constitution.  Please click here to read the Federation’s Constitution.

He then moved on to the different articles that pertained to the appointment and duties of the Nimmuog.

Article X Section 1 of its Constitution explains that the “Nimmuog is the legislative arm of the Federation that shall promulgate, review, and assess Draft Federation Law...”

Article 10, Sections 1 through 27, addresses the structure, conduct, and responsibilities of the Nimmuog.

Once the explanation of what the Nimmuog is and its responsibilities were given, the swearing-in of the representatives commenced.  Since there were twelve representatives, it was decided that the entire group would be sworn in simultaneously.  These Nimmuog representatives are the first group to be appointed.  There will be more Nimmuog appointments to follow at a later date.

Director Principal Chief Watson administered the Federation’s Oath of Office, and the representatives were sworn in as Tribal representatives to the Nimmuog.

Once the swearing-in ceremony was completed and congratulations were heard from a multitude of people, the meeting was adjourned.
