Strengthening Ties between Nations: A Courtesy Call of Significance

June 3, 2025

The Federation of Aboriginal Nations of the Americas’ (FANA) global Ambassadors are beginning to send the latest updates on what they have been addressing in their territories.

FANA has had connections with Africa since late 2022.  FANA’s Minister of International Affairs, Principal Chief Dr. Ronald Yonaguska Holloway, was the initiator and then main negotiator for FANA in establishing the Cooperation Agreement that was established between the Royal House of State Government of the African Diaspora and FANA.

Two years ago, Principal Chief Holloway was inducted into the Royal House of State Government of the African Diaspora (SOAD), which works closely with Ghana. (Below are links to my articles covering negotiations and discussions.)

However, significant inroads were simultaneously being made in Ghana due to the dedication of FANA’s Trade and Commerce Ambassador to Africa,  in fulfilling the Federation’s objectives.

Below is a detailed report written by FANA’s Trade & Commerce Ambassador to Africa,  Dr. Stephen Kojo Sackey. Please keep in mind that FANA has Ambassadors living in Africa, Europe, Mexico, South America, Canada, Japan, Polynesia, and other global locations.  Each Ambassador writes using their language and writing style, and American grammar and other countries' rules can sometimes differ.

Please read Dr. Stephen Sackey’s article below.

Strengthening Ties between Nations: A Courtesy Call of Significance

I, Amb. Dr. Stephen Kojo Sackey, Federation of Aboriginal Nations of Americas (FANA) Trade & Commerce Ambassador to Africa, had the esteemed honor of paying a courtesy call on Nana Kwesi Atta II, the Paramount Chief of Ogua and Member of the Council of State, Republic of Ghana.

During our meeting, I sought His Royal Highness's blessings and guidance as a true son of the land. Our discussion centered around fostering cultural exchange, trade, and direct foreign investment opportunities between Ghana and the Americas, particularly Rhode Island.

I was accompanied by a distinguished delegation, including Bishop Peter Kojo Sackey, Ebenezer Ato Nketia, and Michael Mensah. I also introduced the group principal representatives of the team, including FANA’s members, Principal Chief  Dr. Ronald Yonaguska Holloway, and  Chief Raymond Two Hawks Esq.

I extended an invitation to His Royal Highness to join us at the 3rd Confestival Meshenticult Cultural Placement, scheduled for August 20-24, 2025, in Providence, Rhode Island, USA, courtesy of the Providence Cultural Equity Initiative (PCEI). This year's theme is:

"Advancing Cultural Tourism through Sustainable Place Making"

Our aim is to stimulate interest and investment in cultural place-making as an ethical and sustainable marketing and economic development strategy, promoting mutual growth and development.

Ghana's Tourism Industry: A Significant Economic Driver

Ghana's tourism industry contributes over 9% to the country's GDP. The Black Star Experience (BSE), launched by H.E. John Dramani Mahama, is poised to further boost the economy by $5 billion by the end of 2027. This initiative aims to establish Ghana as a premier destination for cultural heritage, creative arts, culinary tourism, and diasporan engagement.

Key Objectives of the Black Star Experience:

- Economic Growth: Generate $5 billion for the economy by 2027
- Job Creation: Create thousands of jobs for artists, designers, filmmakers, and entrepreneurs
- Cultural Exports: Strengthen Ghana's cultural exports through premium retail experiences and strategic partnerships
- Tourism Growth: Position Ghana as Africa's Culture Capital and a prime venue for international conferences and global business forums

Thematic Pillars of the Black Star Experience:

- Cinema: Showcasing Ghana's film industry and creative storytelling
- Audio: Highlighting Ghana's music and audio productions

- Cuisine: Promoting Ghanaian cuisine and culinary experiences
- Aesthetics: Celebrating Ghana's art, fashion, and design
- Style: Showcasing Ghana's unique cultural style and fashion
- Literature: Promoting Ghanaian literature and storytelling
- Culture: Preserving and showcasing Ghana's rich cultural heritage

Partnership Opportunities:

Informally, I extended an invitation to the Ghana Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GNCCI) to consider partnering with us as consulting partners, alongside other key players in the sector. This collaboration aims to leverage our collective expertise and resources to drive growth and prosperity in our communities.

This meeting underscores FANA's commitment to building bridges between nations and promoting cultural understanding. I look forward to continuing our collaboration and exploring ways to drive growth and prosperity in our communities.
